I Have A Dream

Three of our 7th grade students made it to the regional semi-finals round of the "The Dream at 50" art contest. This national contest commemorates the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech.

Hundreds of regional submissions were received across Los Angeles. Only fifty seven student artists were chosen as semi-finalists, and three of those are from our class!

Congratulations to Verania, Andrea, and Lucy. We are so proud of you guys!

Executive Functions

"Executive Functions are the brain processes
that enable us to regulate the world around us,
utilizing organizational and higher-order learning skills."

This week we launched a new, research based curriculum called Executive Functions.  Students will be taught specific lessons on topics that include, material management, time management, study strategies, goal setting, decision making and problem solving, and learning strengths. These lessons are designed to provide students with the skills to be successful through college and beyond. This week was lesson one, organization systems. If you get a chance, ask to look at your child's binder :).
